Guidelines for the content:
- Keep it as short as possible and as long as necessary.
- The language in the text body should be as simple as possible. Avoid technical terms at all costs.
- The margin notes next to paragraphs are either technical terms used in Marx’s Capital, indicating – if in quotation – publications related to the paragraphs topic or simply function as paragraph heading.
- It is more important to have a straightforward narrative than to include every one of Capital’s concepts.
- The point of view is detached at the beginning and engaged by the end.
How to Contribute:
The following contributions are very welcome:
- Pull Requests: If you are familiar with LaTeX and with Git and have a codeberg account, create a Pull Request.
- Send edited files: In every language section is a content folder containing the eight chapters as single files. Download the chapter you want to modify, change it accordantly (while keeping the strange formation around it) and send it as mail attachment with a comment.
- Send a plain mail containing modified paragraphs: just rewrite the paragraph and send a mail with a comment, which paragraph it was and what your update is about.
- Send a scan of handwritten notes on a printed text: if I can read it and agree to the changes, I will try to update the text. This method is okay, while others are preferred.
The following contributions are less welcome:
- Any form of vague description: please avoid sending me suggestions, that are not concrete. For example: “It would be great if you cover the topic of …!” or “in this paragraph you get the concept of … wrong”. Of course, I will take a look at it, but I may not have the time to act upon it.
- Critic on the structure, because it’s not like the structure in the Capital: Marx had reasons to do it his way and I had reasons to do it another way. What mattered to me was conveying his insights, not copying his approach.

- Die Perspektive ist am Anfang distanziert und wird zum Ende hin engagiert.

- Pull Requests: Wenn du mit LaTeX und Git vertraut bist und ein Codeberg-Konto hast, erstelle einen Pull Request.
- Bearbeitete Dateien senden: In jedem Sprachbereich gibt es einen Inhaltsordner, der die acht Kapitel als einzelne Dateien enthält. Lade das Kapitel herunter, das du ändern möchtest, bearbeite es entsprechend — und bewahre dabei die ungewöhnliche Formatierung bei — und sende es als E-Mail-Anhang zusammen mit einem kurzen Kommentar.
- Eine einfache E-Mail mit überarbeiteten Absätzen senden: Schreibe den Absatz einfach neu und sende mir eine E-Mail mit einem Kommentar dazu, um welchen Absatz es sich handelt und worum es bei deiner Änderung geht.
- Einen Scan handschriftlicher Notizen auf einem ausgedruckten Text senden: Wenn ich ihn lesen kann und mit den Änderungen einverstanden bin, werde ich versuchen, den Text zu aktualisieren. Diese Methode ist in Ordnung, andere werden jedoch bevorzugt.
Die folgenden Beiträge sind weniger willkommen:
- Jegliche Form vager Beschreibungen: Bitte vermeide es, mir Vorschläge zu schicken, die nicht konkret sind. Zum Beispiel: „Es wäre großartig, wenn du das Thema … behandeln würdest!“ oder „In diesem Absatz stellst du das Konzept … falsch dar.“ Natürlich werde ich mir solche Hinweise ansehen, aber möglicherweise habe ich nicht die Zeit, darauf einzugehen.
- Kritik an der Struktur, weil sie nicht der Struktur von Das Kapital entspricht: Marx hatte seine Gründe, es auf seine Weise zu strukturieren, und ich hatte meine Gründe, es anders zu machen. Mir ging es darum, seine Erkenntnisse zu vermitteln, nicht darum, seinen Ansatz zu kopieren.
